One of the beautiful southern bays of Hvar Island is Pelinovik Bay. It is located near the village of Bogomolje in the eastern part of the island. We spent a few unforgettable days there at the beginning of August 2023, so all photos are from the main summer season. We liked it so much that we have already booked accommodation for next year for the beginning of summer.
The bay has quite a few houses, but I must honestly say that there were always just enough people on the beach. Some houses are directly on the beach, but the other part of the beach is without houses, so there is always a place for everyone. On the edge of the beach, there are a few more houses right by the sea.
On one edge of the beach, there is a beautiful grown pine tree that provides pleasant shade.
The gradual entry into the sea is suitable even for our small children, who were 6 and 4 years old at the time of our stay. We agreed that Pelinovik has one of the best and most pleasant beaches on the entire Hvar.
Apart from a few houses, a beautiful beach, and the surrounding nature, there is nothing else in the bay. Evenings were very peaceful. We had perfect conditions for stargazing. We were there during the Perseids, and I had never seen so many shooting stars. Even the Milky Way was a beautiful sight. We sat on the terrace, the sea gently lapped, and the wind softly rustled through the pine crowns. Simply romance as it should be.
As for practical matters, the nearest village is Bogomolje. It is about 3 km from the bay, which took us about 7 minutes by car. The macadam road is well passable even for normal cars. In the village of Bogomolje, there is a square with a shop that is open every day of the week. Further on, there is Vlaj bar, which is also open every day of the week and where locals and tourists gather. They have coffee from a coffee machine and draft Pan beer, ice cream, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and some souvenirs. In addition, there is also a small children's playground on the square.
And if you're looking for a restaurant or a place to buy quality olive oil, lavender oil, local jams, and other homemade products, I recommend this place on the outskirts of the same village. If you like peace and quiet on your holiday, you will love this bay. Those who prefer the hustle and bustle of a resort, a promenade with shops and ice cream, will be happier in Jelsa or Stari Grad. I wish you a happy holiday choice, wherever it may be 🙂
